The WPPSI-R is a complete revision of the long established WPPSI, and incorporates many new features, the most current measurement theory and practice, and a more friendly and appealing approach for children. The age range covered has been extended to allow assessment of children from three to seven years of age, creating new possibilities of identification and early intervention. WPPSI-R now has attractive and colourful materials, making the assessment more appealing to use and more motivating for children.WPPSI-R retains all of the eleven WPPSI subtests and provides a new performance subtest, Object Assembly. A new Design Recognition task has also been added to the Geometric Design subtest, and Animal Pegs (formerly Animal House) and Sentences are now optional subtests. These changes mean that the WPPSI-R now has a parallel structure to WISC-R.
